Dip Your Toe in Creative Waters and Join Aspiring Writers For a Spring Weekend in New Hampshire

Hosts: Authors Kendall Perkins Swords, Marjorie Burke, and Patricia O’Connor

Stay at the historic Follansbee Inn, located on Kezar Lake, and enjoy time to explore your creative side, hone your writing, initiate new writing projects, or simply immerse yourself in a quiet setting, with space to journal.

Enjoy mini-workshops, walks, talks, kayak and canoe rides, and share meals with a like minded group.

Workshop fee includes a room at the inn, simple dinners, and full breakfasts. Commuter spots available for an adjusted rate, but locals, consider a full immersion.

Our first time all together! Gather to say hello. Have a cup of tea, coffee or bring a bottle of wine to share. A light dinner will be served at 6, including dessert.

Saturday, May 2nd

8 am -9 am
Breakfast

9:30 am -10:15 am
Gather in living room. Kendall will speak briefly on how to release the flow of words, followed by Meditative Writing time. Find space in the inn or surrounding grounds. Sit in silence for 5-10 minutes or until words come to you. Let flow whatever thoughts visit.

10:15 am -11 am
Gather in living room – share as desired. Description of paired writing.

11 am -12:15 pm
Paired writing time in choice of nature space or within the inn. Sit together in relative silence and write what pops up. (Potential locations will be given)

12:30-1:45 pm Lunch with your writing partner at location of your choice (Options and directions to local eateries given)

2 pm – 3 pm
Back to the inn. Find a space to work on your pieces as desired and share with each other (pairs).

3 pm – 5 pm
On your own to enjoy the space – inside or out – in whatever way calls you. If you desire, you can meet with one of the hosts – sign-up sheets will be available.

5 pm – 6 pm
Gather for drinks of your own choice (BYOB) Inn living room/bar area

6 pm – 8 pm
Simple dinner at inn and evening session. Time for sharing writings of the day.

8 – 9:30 pm
Local musician will offer guitar/folk music in the living room.

Sunday Morning, May 3, 2026

8 am – 9 am
Breakfast at inn.

10 am
Gather for final reflections, writing exercises and going forth plans.

11 am
Check out. After checking out, you are welcome to spend more time here! You may consider taking out a kayak, sitting on the porch or walking around the lake (a lovely 3 mile relatively flat walk), or a visit to Musterfield Farm, an historic farm just a mile and a half away from the inn. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for another evening and morning of writing-quiet writing time Sunday afternoon and evening, and a focus on ‘nature ekphrasia’.
