The area around Follansbee Inn is a hiker’s paradise where you can experience breathtaking views hiking through New Hampshire’s iconic mountain ranges over trails of varying skill levels and elevations that’ll satisfy your nature needs.
Hike around Kezar Lake, located steps from our front door where you’ll find walkers, runners, cyclists, hikers and dog walkers and Mount Kearsarge, the highest point in the area at 2,914 feet, in the distance. You can take an easy hike to the top of Mount Kearsarge for panoramic views of the valleys below, and as far away as the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the Green Mountains of Vermont and the Atlantic Ocean.
Mount Kearsarge is a mountain located in Wilmot, New Hampshire, and Warner, New Hampshire. Two state parks are located at the northern and southern bases of the mountain—Winslow State Park and Rollins State Park, respectively—and the entire mountain is within Kearsarge Mountain State Forest. On a very clear day, Boston skyscrapers 80 miles away are visible from the fire tower on the summit. The summit has remained bare since a 1796 forest fire.
Next, located a just short drive from our Inn, the mountain has two state parks located at the northern and southern bases:
- Winslow State Park
Winslow State Park was established on Mt. Kearsarge and its plateau. Its breathtaking panoramic views make it a great place to hike or just have a picnic with your friends and family. In the winter time snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are possible. - Rollins State Park
Rollins State Park is located on Mt Kearsarge and can be reached via a short drive to the top or a hike if you are feeling courageous. The views from the top are breathtaking.

- Clark Lookout Trail
The lookout provides a spectacular view of Lake Sunapee and Mount Sunapee. It’s a gift from Sydney L. Crook to the town of New London for conservation and recreation use. The road leading to the lookout is on private property with an easement only for access to the lookout. - Philbrick-Cricenti Bog
Philbrick-Cricenti Bog is a 0.7 mile loop trail located near New London, New Hampshire that features beautiful wild flowers. The trail is good for all skill levels and offers a number of activity options. - Andrew Brook Trail
Sunapee Mountain via Andrew Brook Trail is a 4.2 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Newbury, New Hampshire that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is best used from May until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail. It will bring you to Lake Solitude and when connected with other trails to the top of Mount Sunapee with its amazing views. - Mount Cardigan
Mount Cardigan is one of New Hampshire’s most popular hiking trails and sits at a 3,155-foot elevation. Known for its 360-degree views and fire tower at the top, you will definitely enjoy this hike with trails that range from 2.5 to 4 hours. - Ragged Mountain
Ragged Mountain (2,286 feet above sea level) is a low mountain with numerous knobby summits in the towns of Danbury and Andover in central New Hampshire. An east–west running, detached mountain, Ragged Mountain contains two prominent peaks separated by a shallow notch. The tallest peak, The Pinnacle, lies in the town of Andover; the second peak is sits in the town of Danbury.
